May........
This month I continued with the simple 4 stitch cables, introducing the 'falling leaves' pattern into the 12 stitch sections:
As you can see the overall scarf is starting to get quite long now, I'm on to my second ball of cream wool already.........
April.......
The 4 stitch cable pattern has continued this month but I have included some very large k1, p1, cables over the wider sections:
The whole week of cream rows shows the week of the Saharan dust cloud - we didn't see the sky at all that week!
The overall scarf, should be a third of the final length by now......
March.......
This month I have kept the 4 stitch cables and used a ripple stitch for the 12 stitch sections, this didn't quite turn out as I'd anticipated but as is often the case I quite like the effect!
The scarf so far, a quarter of the way through:

February........
I decided when I started this project that in order to help me see where one month ends and the next starts I would change the pattern at the start of each new month.
Here is a picture of February's rows, there are some dark grey rows in here - very heavy rain days!
The pattern for the month of February involves a mix of the four stitch cables and some woven cables made up of twelve stitches.
Pattern:
Row 1: p1 k2 *p2 k4cb p2 k12, repeat from * to last 11 stitches, p2 k4cb p2 k2 p1
Row 2: k1 p2 *k2 p4 k2 p12, repeat from * to last 11 stitches, k2 p4 k2 p2 k1
Row 3: p1 k2 *p2 k4 p2 k8cb k4, repeat from * to last 11 stitches, p2 k4 p2 k2 p1
Row 4: repeat row 2
Row 5: repeat row 1
Row 6: repeat row 2
Row 7: p1 k2 *p2 k4 p2 k4 k8cf, repeat from * to last 11 stitches, p2 k4 p2 k2 p1
Row 8: repeat row 2
These 8 rows form the basis of the pattern that was repeated throughout the month.
The scarf after two months:
At this rate I may not make it all the way through the year before it gets too long!
I now need to come up with another pattern for the month of March........

January........
For the month of January I have knitted two rows a day in the colour of the sky:
It's been a pretty grey month with lots of rain so I'm amazed there was any blue in it at all!
Pattern:
Row 1: p1, * k2, p2, k4, p2 repeat to last 3 stitches, k2, p1.
Row 2: k1, * p2, k2, p4, k2 repeat to last 3 stitches, p2, k1.
Row 3: p1, * k2, p2, k4cb, p2 repeat to last 3 stitches, k2, p1.
Row 4: repeat row 2.
These 4 rows were repeated throughout the month.

Choosing Colours
After the success of my 2013 project - 365 Granny Squares I have decided the my 2014 project will also involve wool, although I am hopeful it will be slightly less tine consuming!
This year I plan to knit two rows of a scarf every day, the colour of these rows will depend on the colour of the sky wherever I am at midday!
I have chosen five colours to signify the weather - a bright blue for a totally cloudless sky, a paler blue for days when there is just the odd cloud, a cream for mostly cloudy days, a pale grey for cloudy and a bit of rain and a dark grey for the truly terrible never stops raining days!
The scarf will be 54 stitches wide and knitted on size 4mm needles. I intend to change the pattern at the start of each month..........
