<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxZxuO4-jY3h-gWJfeCzFkc5oqFFU4e2ohtPQdSPCizdfQM3fNnABLbwIqXxNC89zDr1hBHYUHYmSdIDNONlrJ6m-0yKHVeBhZcHRXgQdp8NKKEB-xc0_Jp85NhPRletjOclTZmARrrjA/s1600/IMG_2047.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxZxuO4-jY3h-gWJfeCzFkc5oqFFU4e2ohtPQdSPCizdfQM3fNnABLbwIqXxNC89zDr1hBHYUHYmSdIDNONlrJ6m-0yKHVeBhZcHRXgQdp8NKKEB-xc0_Jp85NhPRletjOclTZmARrrjA/s1600/IMG_2047.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
The whole scarf - 274cm (9 feet) in length:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtesT2_u2BttQ6UH85GL0jZJjHsyB97dHGodkow3sSVlpGLQ2DoRT4sLKps7iu61aJJK_DgEaEzVoS85mBTTjAEoCeVqGsLk4sL9a8sh4uTmNj7OLjIpP_f9s6H-kQEFCwEOqg0xG0ZQM/s1600/IMG_2041.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtesT2_u2BttQ6UH85GL0jZJjHsyB97dHGodkow3sSVlpGLQ2DoRT4sLKps7iu61aJJK_DgEaEzVoS85mBTTjAEoCeVqGsLk4sL9a8sh4uTmNj7OLjIpP_f9s6H-kQEFCwEOqg0xG0ZQM/s1600/IMG_2041.JPG" height="88" width="320" /></a></div>
In total I have used 1 bright blue ball, 1 3/4 pale blue balls, just over 2 cream balls, 1 1/2 pale grey balls and 1/2 a dark grey ball. Definitely more dry days than rainy ones, our fabulous summer certainly helped with that!!<br />
<br />
Now to finish it off........Crafting Chemisthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16792206351702065999noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7695334669572969130.post-45666946735895324282014-12-30T15:44:00.003+00:002014-12-30T15:44:25.340+00:00November........The penultimate month and a fairly simple pattern - 4 zigzags and moss stitch:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgri5vYBE-yLtSO6rllwKvPAkC_EzbtTUZ-nfHAo015D3ts6xHegnNxg9mDzfczRWRUbMOnA0B-lE_lYNPpsqh-yOeKhyphenhyphenJiza05V8sQNlQY4YxjMS_CsgIx0y0urK8UFcXlhhKn289wL9c/s1600/IMG_2033.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgri5vYBE-yLtSO6rllwKvPAkC_EzbtTUZ-nfHAo015D3ts6xHegnNxg9mDzfczRWRUbMOnA0B-lE_lYNPpsqh-yOeKhyphenhyphenJiza05V8sQNlQY4YxjMS_CsgIx0y0urK8UFcXlhhKn289wL9c/s1600/IMG_2033.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Just one more month to go - thankfully as it is getting really long now.......<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Thankfully we spent a fabulous five days in Malaga with unbroken sunshine and temperatures into the 30s giving me a chance (maybe the last of the year?) for some bright blue days! I chose a simple pattern this month with a couple of ribbed cables and some diagonal stripes:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfKgFJh0mpMnRnDsUupnmg6bFkBb8hD8Dk6ifHwjIliMsYon-k9Uw3yiUFe9VgRLNBnBqdEGHiOCenXXoLTMxhw3dIN4r3i27GKf2JoWHdHuH15dJH9XfqgID877YXxAkd584j4XSWqwY/s1600/IMG_1986.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfKgFJh0mpMnRnDsUupnmg6bFkBb8hD8Dk6ifHwjIliMsYon-k9Uw3yiUFe9VgRLNBnBqdEGHiOCenXXoLTMxhw3dIN4r3i27GKf2JoWHdHuH15dJH9XfqgID877YXxAkd584j4XSWqwY/s1600/IMG_1986.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
The scarf is getting pretty long now, so I came up with a novel way to fit it all in to one photo......<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiP2mijCNeBcmVc-y5CFqn7IeUHgc0JGI758oJ64tPN1HYuulzjBCkEVJlpr0Gk7FHlUMtPz2TPhHLBfzz1k3NJzJ9TZZQNmSsllyRNl0sW-PuBb3BvOdplQx5xaBRNEO8JVVUK9g3q_Og/s1600/IMG_1987.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiP2mijCNeBcmVc-y5CFqn7IeUHgc0JGI758oJ64tPN1HYuulzjBCkEVJlpr0Gk7FHlUMtPz2TPhHLBfzz1k3NJzJ9TZZQNmSsllyRNl0sW-PuBb3BvOdplQx5xaBRNEO8JVVUK9g3q_Og/s1600/IMG_1987.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>

The pattern is called scotch faggot cable and has both lace and cable stitches, the repeats made it very easy to do:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwt1M0_BVEegCyrEGWdAuVQ0TxDwwsTgAGBPp7mRWCM7cpygkjhJwSF0PaGnxx8V4OnkBq4zeAnLrOvbDCE-O-2JbHEc2RfEdfoTfpgH6gCcntWjRB96p8ttFSpQLe92qiZmoTo0pJl54/s1600/IMG_1983.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwt1M0_BVEegCyrEGWdAuVQ0TxDwwsTgAGBPp7mRWCM7cpygkjhJwSF0PaGnxx8V4OnkBq4zeAnLrOvbDCE-O-2JbHEc2RfEdfoTfpgH6gCcntWjRB96p8ttFSpQLe92qiZmoTo0pJl54/s1600/IMG_1983.JPG" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
It's getting difficult to photograph the whole scarf now, but I love the way you can clearly see what a brilliant summer we have had.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-UiScjcmmjRVevh80g9oSqdOFX-Tmyh_3W0y9_GNq_S4-VICxSMQHH8MM1UUTS1sKQfOxvYWM9APZYQgqD9t2y2zszZeA9NCOmoaUu-LkF03aji2DPXMGi8hwbrASXlrA3OSOi0fEjUo/s1600/IMG_1797.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-UiScjcmmjRVevh80g9oSqdOFX-Tmyh_3W0y9_GNq_S4-VICxSMQHH8MM1UUTS1sKQfOxvYWM9APZYQgqD9t2y2zszZeA9NCOmoaUu-LkF03aji2DPXMGi8hwbrASXlrA3OSOi0fEjUo/s1600/IMG_1797.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
I used a quite complicated cable pattern during this month, it was really tricky to keep on top of whether I was going over or under and exactly when I needed to complete each cable - I don't plan to use such a complicated pattern again during this project!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
The overall scarf is now a useable length - just another 4 months to go and I think it's going to be much taller than I am!!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
This month I have completed some very wide striped cables, worked with 3 stitches:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpN2B90-WjqJFaBuOlaIjd3fqGjwXx0VU5CEdqMPFdKgBXhq8uKYyqTWTKA1TS8dccyCiS2XZAKSK2HqBsST5zP2skizbeBPxEgn973gRFoPafxVzy-O5BQeFaMr1lvEYHgW1ZwmAa06A/s1600/IMG_1499.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpN2B90-WjqJFaBuOlaIjd3fqGjwXx0VU5CEdqMPFdKgBXhq8uKYyqTWTKA1TS8dccyCiS2XZAKSK2HqBsST5zP2skizbeBPxEgn973gRFoPafxVzy-O5BQeFaMr1lvEYHgW1ZwmAa06A/s1600/IMG_1499.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
The scarf is now getting so long it is difficult to fit it all into a picture:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

The pattern this month has been a pair of honeycomb stitch strips either side of two middle 5 stitch cables:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvTlC2FHX8h1fjb3E9VvmJcZky1zt7j-PHSmvSDjvhG0ykul5UVOzcz6qWEy3Rx3Fqhnc0Iyj9XydnIVt-nBV5YRtgCt9E0lzNSdBAt6yqbAaXSh24xQ8HZ5xBfC_3CK61IhT7tC-DXoI/s1600/IMG_1417.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvTlC2FHX8h1fjb3E9VvmJcZky1zt7j-PHSmvSDjvhG0ykul5UVOzcz6qWEy3Rx3Fqhnc0Iyj9XydnIVt-nBV5YRtgCt9E0lzNSdBAt6yqbAaXSh24xQ8HZ5xBfC_3CK61IhT7tC-DXoI/s1600/IMG_1417.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
The scarf is now half way to the final length - if I go all the way to the 31st December it is going to be a very long scarf!!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
A few nice sunny days this month!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
As you can see the overall scarf is starting to get quite long now, I'm on to my second ball of cream wool already.........<br />

Here is a picture of February's rows, there are some dark grey rows in here - very heavy rain days!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFzyqa6PWzD1iGaohktEK_TX3NISG9H5SiiT0Vl_cE_n8hq9gNG6sxX2-FZBKS354ADtDEqURzHUHJl0vLJY_xY5LT6bWUrTVomKOhIFqOfODeYthnvPsr8UarMCxioMxmr9Jt_IHQwa8/s1600/IMG_1329.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFzyqa6PWzD1iGaohktEK_TX3NISG9H5SiiT0Vl_cE_n8hq9gNG6sxX2-FZBKS354ADtDEqURzHUHJl0vLJY_xY5LT6bWUrTVomKOhIFqOfODeYthnvPsr8UarMCxioMxmr9Jt_IHQwa8/s1600/IMG_1329.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
The pattern for the month of February involves a mix of the four stitch cables and some woven cables made up of twelve stitches.<br />
Pattern:<br />
Row 1: p1 k2 *p2 k4cb p2 k12, repeat from * to last 11 stitches, p2 k4cb p2 k2 p1<br />
Row 2: k1 p2 *k2 p4 k2 p12, repeat from * to last 11 stitches, k2 p4 k2 p2 k1<br />
Row 3: p1 k2 *p2 k4 p2 k8cb k4, repeat from * to last 11 stitches, p2 k4 p2 k2 p1<br />
Row 4: repeat row 2<br />
Row 5: repeat row 1<br />
<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">Row 6: repeat row 2</span><br />
Row 7: p1 k2 *p2 k4 p2 k4 k8cf, <span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">repeat from * to last 11 stitches, p2 k4 p2 k2 p1</span><br />
<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">Row 8: repeat row 2</span><br />
<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">These 8 rows form the basis of the pattern that was repeated throughout the month.</span><br />
<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);"><br /></span>
The scarf after two months:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEC5dNHLfrHuU9X1vxgNrwpS-9ii__YgDe3ZsAvAYyyulYefx2_f7VYJm7y24qkPnfPpMhc7H2eUEJVC2vCKBr3HjcxIYlZ_1-lDTyu0dw7shNFZX7kgrQlv6NMSnOD8-U0dEFa-rR9mc/s1600/IMG_1330.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEC5dNHLfrHuU9X1vxgNrwpS-9ii__YgDe3ZsAvAYyyulYefx2_f7VYJm7y24qkPnfPpMhc7H2eUEJVC2vCKBr3HjcxIYlZ_1-lDTyu0dw7shNFZX7kgrQlv6NMSnOD8-U0dEFa-rR9mc/s1600/IMG_1330.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
At this rate I may not make it all the way through the year before it gets too long!<br />
I now need to come up with another pattern for the month of March........Crafting Chemisthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16792206351702065999noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7695334669572969130.post-25551013362315723362014-02-06T22:17:00.002+00:002014-02-06T22:17:52.616+00:00January........For the month of January I have knitted two rows a day in the colour of the sky:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

It's been a pretty grey month with lots of rain so I'm amazed there was any blue in it at all!<br />
<br />
Pattern:<br />
Row 1: p1, * k2, p2, k4, p2 repeat to last 3 stitches, k2, p1.<br />
Row 2: k1, * p2, k2, p4, k2 <span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">repeat to last 3 stitches, p2, k1.</span><br />

<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">Row 4: repeat row 2.</span><br />
<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);"><br /></span>
<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">These 4 rows were repeated throughout the month.</span>Crafting Chemisthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16792206351702065999noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7695334669572969130.post-51824536230921078902014-02-05T22:35:00.001+00:002014-02-05T22:35:22.088+00:00Choosing ColoursAfter the success of my 2013 project - 365 Granny Squares I have decided the my 2014 project will also involve wool, although I am hopeful it will be slightly less tine consuming!<br />
This year I plan to knit two rows of a scarf every day, the colour of these rows will depend on the colour of the sky wherever I am at midday!<br />
I have chosen five colours to signify the weather - a bright blue for a totally cloudless sky, a paler blue for days when there is just the odd cloud, a cream for mostly cloudy days, a pale grey for cloudy and a bit of rain and a dark grey for the truly terrible never stops raining days!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEim933vPKoxF5_PJUBlIKKWtoiSMulQ86qGItC4MzvoIV6Jodt1rklB1aPlUGSMt6jp5r0OgAD1tZ4_QW5V5qvDJWV2_PXidvGXf7NEnGku6XAqKRa1Iwy-wzPWQI-_6dws87tw3hP6PTc/s1600/IMG_1193.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEim933vPKoxF5_PJUBlIKKWtoiSMulQ86qGItC4MzvoIV6Jodt1rklB1aPlUGSMt6jp5r0OgAD1tZ4_QW5V5qvDJWV2_PXidvGXf7NEnGku6XAqKRa1Iwy-wzPWQI-_6dws87tw3hP6PTc/s1600/IMG_1193.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
The scarf will be 54 stitches wide and knitted on size 4mm needles. I intend to change the pattern at the start of each month..........Crafting Chemisthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16792206351702065999noreply@blogger.com0
